Mental Health: A Divine Gift and A Proven Path to Peace

Today is a very important day for everyone, because this is related to our mental health and life cycle. Our total life depends on mental health sustainability.

We can easily see which person is not mentally stable, but we often forget to ask what the reason behind this is; why this person has become mentally unstable and behaves in a foul way that seems unusual or upsetting. Another person may notice this and quickly say that the person is mentally understanding the cause.

Mental health is a gift from Allah Almighty. It is not a common word; a person's whole life depends on their mental health. If a person's mental health is fine, they are physically fit, think properly and logically, and they can have powerful and understandable discussions, no matter who or what they are thinking about. Mental health gives positive signs and imagination.

Safe Place Visualization OR Guided Imagery Technique:

if anyone applies this technique in their life, they can find healing and relaxation even from the biggest problems. If you feel unhappy, mentally or physically unwell, and you keep overthinking continuously, you may reach a point where you feel completely alone. In that case, sit in the center of the room, close your eyes, and imagine a place that you like the most, a place that gives you the deepest satisfaction. I assure you that you will feel relaxed and both mentally and physically lighter, and that your condition will improve positively by 60 to 70 percent.

Science Confirms Its Power

What's remarkable is that modern science now confirms what spiritual wisdom has long held. Research has proven that this technique of 'Guided Imagery' or visualization does not just feel good; it creates real, physical changes in your body. It stimulates the body's natural relaxation response, leading to:

  • Slower breathing
  • Reduced blood pressure
  • A lower heart rate

Benefits:

  • Relieve pain and reduce stress.
  • Reduce anxiety and symptoms of depression.
  • Improve sleep quality significantly.

Guided imagery techniques

The following are examples of guided imagery techniques:

  • imagining a pleasant scene in a peaceful location to soothe anxiety or relieve stress
  • imagining white blood cells fighting illness, such as an infection or cancer
  • imagining a successful performance or outcome, such as in an athletic event or quitting smoking.

Tips for beginners

The following are a few tips to help beginners:

  •        Choose a quiet place where there will be no interruptions.
  •        Turn off cell phones and TVs.
  •        When imagining a scene, try to engage the senses of vision, hearing, smell, and touch.
  •     A person may wish to shop around to choose a guided imagery tape to lead them through the process.
  •        Do not rush through the process.(Mary West, 2022)

I have worked on this practice myself, and it truly works 100%. Anyone can try and apply it in their life, because mental health is the greatest strength of every human being; it helps us overcome and reduce unhealthy thoughts.
